Comparing use of BIMA in a Y-graft configuration to BIMA with additional radial artery use during CABG: Two institutional study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Method Two consecutive series of patients underwent arterial revascularization at two institutions from 2000-2010. In group A, 183 patients underwent CABG with non-sequential BIMA grafting, utilizing the RA for additional targets. In group B, 771 patients underwent solely sequential BIMA grafting in a Y-graft configuration. Patient differences were balanced using a propensity score developed from a logistic regression model with 20 baseline factors. Cox Proportional Hazards Regression was used to adjust for group differences in evaluating survival. In addition, propensity scoring was used to develop two matched cohorts, and survival of these 178 patients was assessed with Kaplan Meier Survival analysis.

Benefit of bilateral over single internal mammary artery grafts for multiple coronary artery bypass grafting.
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) grafts in isolated CABG. METHODS AND RESULTS Beginning in April 1985, elective primary multiple CABG for multivessel disease was performed in 1131 patients. The early and late results of 688 patients who received single internal mammary artery (SIMA) grafts and 443 patients who receive...
متن کاملBilateral versus Single Internal Mammary Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Sweden from 1997–2008
BACKGROUND Prior observational studies have suggested better outcomes in patients who receive bilateral internal mammary arteries (BIMA) during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) compared with patients who receive a single internal mammary artery (SIMA). The aim of this study was to analyze the association between BIMA use and long-term survival in patients who underwent primary isolated CA...
متن کاملBilateral skeletonized internal mammary versus single-pedicled internal mammary grafting in the elderly.
BACKGROUND The use of the bilateral internal mammary arteries has been reserved mainly for younger and low risk patients. AIM To assess the safety and efficacy of BIMA grafting in older patients (> or = 70 years). METHODS We reviewed the records of all consecutive patients > or = 70 years old who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery with a BIMA graft in our institute over a 2 year perio...
متن کاملOff-pump coronary artery bypass grafting using a bilateral internal mammary artery Y graft
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the outcome of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) using a bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) Y configuration graft to achieve total arterial myocardial revascularization. METHODS From October 2002 to December 2008, 208 patients (196 males and 12 females) underwent OPCABG using a BIMA Y configuration graft. The average age of the patients was 56.5 ± 1...
متن کاملLessons learned from the use of 1,977 in-situ bilateral internal mammary arteries: a retrospective study
BACKGROUND We sought to determine the early and long-term results of in-situ bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) grafting in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). METHODS Between 1992 and 2011, 16,364 patients underwent primary isolated CABG involving at least one in-situ IMA at our institution. Among these, 1,977 patients underwent in-situ BIMA grafting: the r...
